Description For Lead Data Engineer

The Disney Decision Science + Integration (DDSI) organization is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their team supporting Parks & Resorts, Consumer Products, and Entertainment segments. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in data engineering and analytics. You'll work on critical data infrastructure projects while mentoring team members and driving technical standards.

The position involves leading complex data engineering initiatives, from planning through deployment, using modern tools and technologies like Snowflake, AWS, and Python. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive business value through data analytics and optimization.

As a technical leader, you'll be responsible for ensuring quality standards, conducting code reviews, and recommending improvements to tools and processes. The role requires strong communication skills to interface with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, plus the ability to influence organizational change.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of software development experience, deep expertise in data engineering practices, and a proven track record of technical leadership. You'll work in Disney's Lake Buena Vista location, contributing to projects that directly impact the guest experience across Disney's global operations.

Requirements For Lead Data Engineer

Python
PostgreSQL
  • 7+ years overall experience in software development using multi environment and DEVOP procedures
  • 2+ years using, designing and building relational databases (Snowflake or PostgreSQL)
  • 2+ years experience leading and deploying code using GitLab/GitHub
  • 2+ years experience with job scheduling software
  • Experience with ELT/ETL data pipeline development
  • Expertise with SQL and Python
  • Experience with containerization technologies
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Experience with project and sprint planning
  • Strong communication skills
