Description For Lead Data Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their Product & Data Engineering team. This role focuses on building and maintaining the Audience Manager Platform (AMP), a centralized Disney audience data platform that processes consumer behavior data across channels. The position involves working with world-class teams to create magical viewing experiences while transforming Disney's media business for the future.

The role requires expertise in building scalable, fault-tolerant data processing pipelines to ensure reliable delivery of audience data. You'll be working on platforms that power core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data for millions of consumers worldwide across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and other digital products.

Responsibilities For Lead Data Engineer

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand the Unified Messaging Platform
  • Promote and support Agile methodologies
  • Collaborate with squad, Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in on-call support
  • Serve as an advanced resource to other Data Engineers and mentor junior team members

Requirements For Lead Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of big data engineering experience
  • Experience with distributed systems (Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Presto, PySpark)
  • Strong Python and SQL skills processing big datasets
  • Experience with MPP or cloud database technology
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing methodologies
  • Problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
