Description For Lead Data Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their Product & Data Engineering team. This role focuses on building and maintaining the Audience Manager Platform (AMP), a centralized Disney audience data platform that processes consumer behavior data across channels. The position offers an opportunity to work on large-scale data systems supporting major streaming platforms like Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in big data engineering, distributed systems, and cloud technologies. You'll be working in Santa Monica, contributing to the technological backbone of Disney's media business while helping to shape the future of entertainment delivery. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring both deep technical expertise and the ability to mentor team members. Responsibilities For Lead Data Engineer

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives for the Unified Messaging Platform
  • Participate in Agile methodologies and ceremonies
  • Collaborate with squad, Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other stakeholders
  • Participate in on-call support
  • Mentor and coach junior team members

Requirements For Lead Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of big data engineering experience
  • Experience with distributed systems (Spark, Hadoop)
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Experience with MPP or cloud database technology
  • Knowledge of Data Modeling techniques
  • Problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
