Description For Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) Client Engineering organization. This role will focus on building experiences across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+ using a common platform and shared technology. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience building highly scalable web applications, expert knowledge in Javascript, Typescript, and React, and the ability to architect sophisticated technical changes. Key responsibilities include leading projects, writing and maintaining code, architecting implementations, and mentoring senior developers. The role offers the opportunity to work on innovative products that reach millions of consumers daily and shape the future of Disney's media business.

The position involves:

  • Leading projects and collaborating with engineering and product teams
  • Writing, maintaining, and enforcing code quality through test-driven development
  • Architecting and designing implementations
  • Contributing to the team's practices and recommending changes in development standards
  • Supporting and mentoring senior developers

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years experience in building scalable web applications
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Expert knowledge in Javascript, Typescript, and React
  • Experience in defining and implementing API specifications
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies
