Description For Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Targeting Innovation team within Media Engineering. This role is crucial in building highly available, high-throughput services that power content delivery to millions of subscribers worldwide.

The position involves working on advanced decisioning systems for traffic shaping and routing to optimize both cost and user experience in streaming media delivery. As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for architecting and developing backend systems that facilitate the last-mile delivery of Disney media to customers.

The role requires expertise in Scala and functional programming, with experience in building RESTful services and working with messaging technologies like Kafka. You'll lead architecture discussions, establish engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers while contributing to critical streaming infrastructure.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $152,200 to $223,600 depending on location and experience, with additional benefits including medical coverage, bonuses, and long-term incentives.
