Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for their Ad Platforms organization. This role will be responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining the high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Advertising Platform across all of Disney online properties, including Hulu and ESPN+. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in big data and solid expertise in backend services or full stack development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of large-scale data platforms for batch and real-time processing
- Design next-gen cloud-based big data infrastructure for batch and streaming data applications
- Balance architectural and design considerations for performance, scalability, reusability, and flexibility
- Advocate for best engineering practices, including design patterns, CI/CD, code review, and automated testing
- Collaborate with program managers, product managers, SDET, and researchers
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- At least 7 years of professional programming and design experience in Scala, Java, Python, etc.
- 3+ years of big data development experience with technical stacks like Spark, Hive, SingleStore, Airflow, Kafka, Flink, and AWS
- Strong knowledge of system/application design and architecture
- Experience building industry-level highly available and scalable services
- Experience processing large amounts of data at petabyte level
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure technologies (Terraform, K8S, Spinnaker, IAM, ALB)
- Experience with Grafana, Datadog
- Knowledge of Web frameworks (React.js, Vue.js, Angular) and Web stack (HTML, CSS, Webpack)
- Ads domain knowledge
