Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for their Ad Platforms team. This role is crucial in building and maintaining their high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform. The platform handles qualification, delivery, and tracking of Digital Advertising campaigns across all Disney online properties, including Hulu and ESPN+.
The position requires expertise in Java development, system design, and implementation best practices. You'll be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you'll need to effectively communicate and collaborate across teams. The role involves significant technical leadership, including mentoring team members and translating product requirements into technical implementations.
The Ad Serving Engineering organization is responsible for developing supporting components such as anti-ad fatigue systems, impression counting pipelines, and ad experience flows. You'll be working with critical services responsible for ad pacing, targeting, and selection.
Key technical aspects include working with SpringBoot, non-relational databases like DynamoDB, caching solutions (Redis/MemCache), message queuing systems (Kafka/Kinesis), and cloud platforms (AWS). Experience with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes is highly valued.
The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $152,000 to $223,600 depending on location (Los Angeles, Seattle, or San Francisco), plus potential bonuses and long-term incentives. The role offers comprehensive medical and financial benefits.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to make an impact at scale, as the platforms you'll work on serve millions of consumers every day across Disney's major streaming and entertainment properties.
