Description For Lead Software Engineer (Android)

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Android) to join the Hulu Android team. This role involves working on apps used by millions of Hulu subscribers daily, building and maintaining the best Live and Video on Demand (VOD) applications on a broad set of Android devices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Android SDK, experience with streaming video, and a passion for mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and engineering leadership to create best-in-class TV-watching experiences
  • Lead the team in implementing product and engineering initiatives
  • Mentor team members and support peers through code review and pair programming
  • Manage production issues and solve novel problems
  • Develop test infrastructures, write documentation, and follow agile development methodologies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of experience in related field
  • Deep knowledge of Android app architecture patterns and design principles
  • Experience with reactive frameworks, test automation, and continuous integration
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications include experience with Compose UI and streaming video protocols.
