Description For Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Data Platforms Team, specifically the Core Media Networks Data Team. This role is crucial in processing and analyzing product performance data that drives decision-making across the DEET Portfolio. The position involves working with cutting-edge technologies including AWS, Databricks, Airflow, and Spark, using primarily Scala and Python.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data solutions that power Disney's media business, including platforms like Disney+, Hulu, ABC News, and ESPN. They will work on building robust data pipelines, implementing Lakehouse architecture, and creating models that unlock powerful insights at scale.

  • Contribute to architecture, design and growth of Data Products and pipelines in Scala and Python/Spark
  • Design and develop scalable data warehousing solutions
  • Implement Lakehouse architecture

  • Maintain detailed documentation
  • Ensure high operational efficiency and quality

Requirements For Lead Software Engineer

  • At least 7 years of data engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on Experience with AWS (S3, EMR, EC2)
  • Strong algorithmic problem-solving expertise
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with Spark, Pyspark
  • Strong Python programming skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
