Lead Software Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead an engineering squad within the Identity Engineering organization at Disney. This role involves making technical and architectural decisions, influencing the roadmap, and contributing to a dynamic engineering organization. The position is part of the Security Services squad, responsible for securing consumer-facing APIs and blocking malicious traffic.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of stateful microservices and lambdas in a multi-region cloud environment.
• Promoting and supporting Agile methodologies by leading regular ceremonies.
• Mentoring engineers within the squad and beyond.
• Collaborating with various stakeholders to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions.

Required skills:

• Familiarity with JVM languages (Java, Scala, or Kotlin)
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Desirable skills:

• Familiarity with Scala and frameworks like Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO, and http4s
• Knowledge of both OOP and functional programming
• Experience with AWS, Terraform, and infrastructure as code

Required education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 7 years related work experience
