Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer, iOS to join their Apple team responsible for building Hulu. This role is part of the Product & Data Engineering team, which is responsible for end-to-end development of Disney's world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with UX designers, product managers, and engineering leadership to craft best-of-class, delightful TV-watching experiences
- Collaborate with other client and backend engineers to architect and implement solutions that are built to last
- Lead the team in implementing product and engineering initiatives
- Demonstrate engineering excellence by developing test infrastructures, writing documentation, ensuring dedication to quality, and following an agile development methodology
- Mentor associate and mid-level team members and support peers through code review and pair programming
- Identify areas for growth within team processes and develop new systems for collaboration
- Manage production issues and solve novel problems
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the related field
- Deep understanding of iOS and tvOS app development using UIKit and SwiftUI
- Experience with reactive frameworks such as Combine
- Proficiency in integrating with backend systems, web services, and third-party software
- Strong understanding of design patterns like MVC and MVVM
- Experience with test automation, dependency injection frameworks, and continuous integration
- Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Apple's AVKit framework and HLS
- Experience integrating in-app purchases using StoreKit
- A growth mindset towards learning, experience mentoring others, and a desire to give and receive feedback
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position varies by location:
- Seattle, WA & New York: $156,300 to $209,600 per year
- Glendale, CA: $149,300 to $200,200 per year
