Description For Manager, Application Engineering

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) team is seeking a Manager of Application Engineering to lead their software development efforts across The Walt Disney Company's various business units. This role sits within a team that leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, and statistical modeling to build innovative tools that shape business decisions and drive value.

As Manager, Application Engineering, you will lead a diverse team of application engineers, UX/UI engineers, and QA engineers in developing and deploying strategic software solutions. You'll be responsible for managing the entire software development lifecycle, from setting team goals and managing risks to collaborating across teams and delivering internal applications that serve multiple Disney business units.

The ideal candidate brings proven technical leadership experience in software development, with a strong track record of shipping products on time while maintaining high quality standards. You should have hands-on development experience with modern web technologies like React, Python, and PostgreSQL, as well as expertise in cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Experience with data science applications and analytics is highly valued.

Requirements For Manager, Application Engineering

  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience building web-based applications
  • 2+ years leading technical teams in cloud-based web application development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field
  • Experience with serverless architectural patterns in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Experience working with complex and large datasets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
