Description For Manager, Software Engineering

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a motivated Engineering Manager to lead their User Foundations platform powering Disney Streaming apps (Disney+, Hulu and Star+). This role offers an exciting opportunity to directly impact millions of users while working with cutting-edge streaming technology.

The position involves leading a team of engineers in designing, building, and managing scalable distributed systems that power multiple experiences across Disney's streaming platforms. The role combines technical leadership with people management, requiring both deep technical expertise and strong leadership skills.

The User Foundations team is responsible for critical User Capabilities shared across all streaming services, implementing reliable, high-throughput services and pipelines for gathering user information and delivering personalized experiences. The team operates in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities include leading the design and development of stateful microservices, managing team performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring platform reliability and scalability. The role requires expertise in Java, AWS, and various database technologies, along with experience in performance tuning and maintaining critical-path software.
