Description For Media Engineer II

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DEE) is seeking a Media Engineer II to join their team in transforming how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software technology, requiring deep understanding of video/audio content technology. The position involves maintaining and improving systems including Playout Technology, Studios, Production Control Rooms, Remote Production, and Cloud Computing infrastructure.

As a Media Engineer II, you'll be part of a tiered sustainment model, handling escalated incidents and working on system integration projects. The role requires expertise in broadcast technology, cloud platforms, and media systems, while ensuring the highest levels of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities For Media Engineer II

  • Resolve issues affecting production, broadcast, and content distribution
  • Troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals in SDI and IP environments
  • Manage third-party service providers
  • Develop long range plans for future media technology needs
  • Provide operational support for audio and video production systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on broadcast systems
  • Participate in complex engineering projects
  • Maintain system/workflow documentation

Requirements For Media Engineer II

Node.js
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent major
  • 3+ years of experience in live media production and distribution environments
  • Proficiency in SMPTE standards for broadcast television
  • Cloud certification (Azure, AWS, or CompTIA)
  • Knowledge of compression techniques (MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG)
  • Experience with Evertz software control systems
  • Ability to create and interpret AutoCAD drawings
  • Valid driver's license
