Media Performance Engineer II, Distribution

Media Engineering builds the software and systems that prepare media content and metadata for the Disney Streaming platform - providing the best possible playback experience to our viewers. The Media Experience, Performance Engineering - Distribution Team is nested at the intersection of technology and innovation within Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology (DE&ET). We are leading the charge in optimizing playback performance quality and shaping the future of media technology.

As a Media Experience Performance Engineer II on the Distribution team, your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing health of streaming products using internal and third-party tools
• Acting as first responder to internal and external delivery escalations
• Executing mitigation steps to limit impact windows
• Curating documentation for issue tracking and impact analysis
• Managing distribution policies using internal tooling
• Supporting live events, high-profile content sunrises, and feature releases

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3+ years of experience in streaming media, content distribution, or video technology
• Understanding of the live and VOD content delivery life cycle
• Experience in a high-availability, large-scale production environment, preferably on AWS or another public cloud
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with OTT and mobile devices, network-level tools, data visualization tools, and CDNs
• Basic understanding of technical project management and data structures (SQL)
