Description For Media Systems Engineer II

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Media Systems Engineer II to join their team in transforming how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software technology, requiring comprehensive understanding of technology that powers video/audio content generation and distribution. The position involves working with cutting-edge broadcast production systems, cloud infrastructure, and leading technical implementations across multiple DE&E Technology networks.

The ideal candidate will lead modernization efforts of legacy media production infrastructure, coordinate facility upgrades, and work with state-of-the-art equipment including core routing, intercom, playout, and distribution systems. They will collaborate with installation engineers, manufacturers, and technical operations staff while developing project plans and capital forecasting.

  • Collaborate with management to assess facility needs

Requirements For Media Systems Engineer II

Linux
  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or 5 years experience in broadcast facilities design
  • 3+ years broadcast engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of baseband/IP video, audio and digital compression
  • Knowledge of file transfer acceleration technologies
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, UDP, SSL, and SNMP
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in at least one of: Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, C or C++
