Description For Senior Data Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T) is at the forefront of reimagining magical viewing experiences for the world's most beloved stories while transforming Disney's media business. The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development of Disney's world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be working on Identity and Device Data products that serve as the source of truth for customer identifiers and devices. You'll build scalable, fault-tolerant data processing pipelines and backend systems, ensuring reliable delivery of both real-time and batch data. The role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and impact millions of consumers worldwide.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $138,900 to $195,000 depending on location, plus potential bonuses and long-term incentives. You'll be part of a team that reaches millions of consumers every day, working with world-class entertainment brands and shaping the future of Disney's media business.

Key responsibilities include building and maintaining data product initiatives, enhancing data models, participating in Agile methodologies, collaborating across teams, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in big data engineering, distributed systems, and cloud technologies, with expertise in Python, Scala, and SQL.

Responsibilities For Senior Data Engineer

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand Identity and Device data product offerings
  • Enhance/redesign existing data models to modernize products and improve performance
  • Participate in code reviews and on-call support roster
  • Collaborate with squad, Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other stakeholders
  • Serve as a senior resource and mentor junior team members

Requirements For Senior Data Engineer

Python
  • 5+ years of related big data engineering experience
  • Experience with distributed systems like Hadoop or Databricks
  • Strong Python, Scala and SQL skills
  • Experience with MPP or cloud database technology
  • Familiarity with Data Modeling techniques
  • Problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience with data integration tools and CI/CD
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
