Job Description

Walt Disney World Resort is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join their Planning & Sustaining Team at Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES). This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, highly skilled team responsible for engineering oversight of utility infrastructure across 40 square miles serving the Walt Disney Company.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you'll provide crucial engineering services supporting capital improvement projects for utility systems, ensuring alignment with department strategy and goals. You'll be the primary asset owner responsible for sustainment and strategic planning of process control and communication systems.

The position requires deep expertise in control and automation systems, with responsibilities including developing standards, implementing automation solutions, and maintaining critical infrastructure. You'll work with various systems including Central Energy Plants, Utility monitoring, HVAC, and water treatment plants.

Key technical areas include PLC programming, instrumentation, AutoCAD, and system integration. The role demands strong analytical skills and the ability to balance evolving priorities while maintaining productivity. You'll be part of ensuring the reliable operation of Disney's vast utility infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Senior Engineer-Controls

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in solving complex issues related to the operation and maintenance of control and automation systems
  • Develop and maintain control design and construction standards and operating guidelines
  • Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, documentation, and sustainment of automation
  • Interpret engineering documentation and execute project and sustainment work
  • Develop requirements and technical oversight over commissioning and testing
  • Develop robust preventative maintenance and asset programs
  • Write procedures for routine tasks and troubleshooting

Requirements For Senior Engineer-Controls

Python
  • 5+ years of experience in utility automation and control operation and maintenance
  • 5+ years of experience in specifying, designing and installing hardware
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or comparable discipline
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, Sequence of Operations, and drawings
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and digital/analog instrumentation
  • Proficient at AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel
  • Basic programming skills in ladder logic or structured text
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be available to work outside normal hours as required
