Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Senior Media Performance Engineer to join their Media Experience, Performance Engineering Quality Team. This role sits at the intersection of technology and innovation, focusing on shaping the future of media technology through device lab architecture and advancing audio/video technologies.

The position involves working with Disney's streaming platform, including Disney+ and Hulu, handling media content from ingest through publish. You'll be responsible for ensuring optimal playback experience across all platforms while working on normalization, processing, and packaging of audio, video, and metadata content.

As a Senior Media Performance Engineer, you'll be involved in:

  • Developing and implementing solutions for complex testing scenarios
  • Maintaining product feature specifications across device platforms
  • Contributing to the advancement of streaming media technology
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation
  • Analyzing and optimizing media performance metrics

Requirements For Senior Media Performance Engineer, Quality

  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of substantial experience in streaming media, content distribution, or video technology
  • 3+ years of proven expertise in Live Video Streaming Systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of the live and VOD content delivery life cycle
  • Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems with microservice architecture
  • Strong understanding of video compression, codec standards
  • Proficient interfacing with OTT and mobile devices
  • Expert use of data visualization tools
  • Experience in designing and maintaining complex documentation
  • Strong working knowledge in advanced data structures (SQL, NoSQL)
