Description For Senior Software Engineer (Front-End)

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) provides the technological backbone and product development for Disney's two media business units, while helping to keep the company at the vanguard of innovation. The Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) organization is dedicated to three business-critical areas at Disney that will help transform its media business. We build innovative and cutting-edge capabilities to drive subscriptions, engagement, and monetization across Disney's streaming and digital products.

As a Senior Software Engineer (Front-End) on the DEE&T Web Commerce team, you'll build the core sign-up, purchase, and subscription management experiences of our Web platform. You will serve as a high-level technical resource and "go-to" person, solving sophisticated technical challenges and finding opportunities to improve systems, products, and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product and project management to translate requirements into technical specifications
  • Lead by example in writing, maintaining, and enforcing code quality through test-driven development
  • Contribute to project needs and the evolution of the team's practices
  • Support software throughout its lifecycle, adding new implementations and maintaining clear documentation
  • Apply experience to identify and resolve complex tasks involving architectural application changes
  • Support and mentor developers through code reviews, knowledge-sharing, and technical leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience building highly scalable and performant modern Javascript/Typescript web applications
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Strong ability to write well-documented, clear, and robust code
  • Proven track record integrating API specifications and collaborating with service teams
  • Highly diligent with the ability to see projects from beginning to end
  • Exhibits emotional intelligence and can work under high-pressure situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping production-level React/Node.js applications with high availability and throughput deployed to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
  • Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of web standards and new technologies

This role offers a competitive salary range of $136,100 - $191,100 per year (depending on location), along with bonus potential, long-term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement programs, and paid time off.
