As a Senior Software Engineer on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training Tools (MST) team at Walt Disney World Resort, you will build software tools used to provide detailed engineering simulation and analysis services internationally for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Park Operations Line of Business, Transportation, Engineering Services, Entertainment, and other Global Engineering & Technology partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Writing code for simulation applications for internal engineering and creative partners
- Partnering with various teams to identify requirements and use cases for new tool applications
- Writing detailed documentation for software
- Assisting users with troubleshooting and resolving bugs
- Providing computer hardware and software expertise
- Analyzing simulation results and recommending system design improvements
- Developing and reviewing mechanical and system-level simulations
- Managing simulation projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and design planning
- Delegating work to co-workers and ensuring productivity
This is a Project Hire position with an estimated end date of 7/18/2026, reporting to the Manager-Systems Engineering.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in programming, including C#
- Proficiency in object-oriented design principles
- Willingness to learn new technologies and languages
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to prioritize and switch between different roles
- Flexibility with work schedule
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in engineering software and development environments
- Experience with Agile software development practices
- Proficiency in source control tools and continuous integration
- Working knowledge of industrial automation equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the entertainment industry, Ride and Show Control Systems
- Familiarity with third-party analysis software (e.g., MatLab, Simulink)
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python
- Experience with game engines (Unity3D or Unreal)
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols
- Familiarity with Atlassian Tools (Jira & Confluence)
- Experience with Splunk for monitoring and data visualization
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent from ABET certified curriculum
- Preferred: Post-graduate engineering degree
