Description For Senior Software Engineer - Roku Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Roku Client Application team. This role is crucial in building Direct-to-Consumer client apps like Disney+, Star+, ESPN, and Hulu for Roku streaming devices and smart TVs.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of entertainment and technology, where you'll be responsible for developing innovative streaming experiences that reach millions of viewers worldwide. As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be working with BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph SDK to create seamless, high-quality viewing experiences.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of development experience with client-side development stack, with a preference for 2+ years of BrightScript experience. You'll be working on everything from onboarding to browse UI/UX experiences, analytics, and video playback interfaces. The role also involves collaboration with various teams including client SDK engineering, design engineering, and services engineering.

Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer - Roku Engineer

  • Build client app experiences in BrightScript using Roku SceneGraph SDK
  • Develop new application features from on-boarding to browse UI/UX experiences
  • Contribute to development of tools and systems outside Roku apps
  • Work with Roku to vet new hardware, firmware and certification requirements
  • Collaborate with client SDK engineering, design engineering, and services engineering teams
