Description For Senior Systems Engineer

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Technology (DEE Tech) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their Content Origin Services engineering team. This role is crucial for architecting and maintaining the global content delivery infrastructure that powers Disney's streaming properties including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. The position offers an opportunity to work on innovative streaming solutions at massive scale.

The role involves designing and implementing content delivery systems, ensuring high availability and performance of streaming services, and collaborating across teams to enhance Disney's global streaming ecosystem. You'll be responsible for infrastructure deployment, service monitoring, and technical support while working with cutting-edge technologies in a hybrid cloud environment.

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll contribute to the development of technology roadmaps, lead proof-of-concept initiatives, and help train technical staff. The position requires expertise in Linux systems administration, web serving technologies, and infrastructure automation. You'll work with a variety of tools and technologies including content delivery networks, caching solutions, and infrastructure-as-code.

  • Experience with Apache, NGINX, or Varnish webserver applications

  • Proficiency with interpreted or compiled languages
  • Understanding of web security protocols
  • Experience with hybrid public/private environments
