Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Media Processing and Distribution (MPD) Core Media team. This role focuses on developing video encoding, packaging, and orchestration systems that power Disney's streaming platforms including Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu. The position involves working with complex Video-on-Demand (VOD) workflow orchestration systems, requiring expertise in Java, Spring frameworks, and AWS architecture.

The ideal candidate will contribute to system design, implementation, and support while participating in an Agile development environment. They will need strong problem-solving skills to debug complex workflow issues across multiple systems and environments. Responsibilities For Software Engineer II, Core Media Manufacturing

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, integration, deployment, and support of VOD workflow orchestration system
  • Participate in design and code reviews
  • Debug complex issues involving workflows across multiple systems
  • Contribute to planning of small to mid-size projects
  • Apply Agile methodology and practices
  • Participate in on-call support rotation

Requirements For Software Engineer II, Core Media Manufacturing

  • BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field
  • 3+ years (1+ with MS degree) software development industry experience
  • Proficient in Java programming language
  • Experience with Spring/Spring-Boot frameworks
  • Experience with XML, JSON, REST APIs
  • Experience with AWS architecture
  • Experience in SQL/no-SQL database design
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
