Description For Sr. Application Engineer

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) team is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join their innovative technology group. In this role, you'll be part of a team developing a web-based analytic platform for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. You'll design, build, and ship new functionality while working with cutting-edge technologies and frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience, particularly with Python and React, and the ability to work with large datasets. You'll collaborate across teams including Product Managers, Data Scientists, and DevOps to create user-friendly applications that enable business decision-makers.

This is an opportunity to work on strategic software platforms that drive business value through data analytics, optimization, and statistical modeling. You'll be part of a team that supports clients across The Walt Disney Company, including Parks, Entertainment, ESPN, and Corporate Finance.

The role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills, as you'll be mentoring other engineers while driving technical projects from conception to completion. You'll work in an environment that values innovation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities For Sr. Application Engineer

  • Design, build, and ship new features of a cutting-edge software platform
  • Lead, mentor, and assist other Application Engineers
  • Collaborate with Product Managers on application requirements and project plans
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists to understand model inputs & outputs
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers on data storage and retrieval
  • Draft and propose creative user experiences through workflows and wireframes
  • Support enterprise-wide mission by evangelizing software development best practices

Requirements For Sr. Application Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience in software development with expertise in at least one language
  • 3+ years of experience with Python
  • 3+ years of front-end experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Django or similar Python web frameworks
  • Experience with React or similar front-end JavaScript libraries
  • Experience building applications that process large data volumes with PostgreSQL and Snowflake
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Data Mining, Mathematics or equivalent
