Description For Sr Data Engineer

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Product & Data Engineering team. This role focuses on building and maintaining the Audience Manager Platform (AMP), a centralized Disney audience data platform that captures & processes all Disney consumers' cross-channel behavior. The position involves working with world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant data processing pipelines and backend systems to ensure reliable delivery of audience data. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies and distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation at scale.

The role offers competitive compensation with a base salary range of $136,100 to $191,100 (varying by location), plus potential bonuses and long-term incentives. You'll be part of Disney's mission to create magical viewing experiences while transforming their media business for the future.

Key responsibilities include developing product-driven initiatives, maintaining data pipelines, participating in Agile ceremonies, and providing on-call support. The position requires strong technical skills in Python, SQL, and distributed systems, along with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities For Sr Data Engineer

  • Partner with development leads to build and maintain product-driven initiatives

Requirements For Sr Data Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of related big data engineering experience
  • Experience with distributed systems (Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Presto, PySpark)
  • Strong Python and SQL skills processing big datasets
  • Experience with MPP or cloud database technology
  • Familiarity with Data Modeling techniques
  • Problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
