Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Sr ML Engineer to join their team responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Hulu's recommendation and personalization algorithms. This role involves collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Data teams to apply machine learning techniques to achieve strategic personalization goals. The ideal candidate will explore innovative, cutting-edge methods for recommendations and constantly seek to optimize processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining algorithms for personalization, recommendation, and other predictive systems
- Implementing large-scale real-time recommendation pipelines
- Developing and maintaining ETL pipelines using orchestration tools
- Deploying scalable streaming and batch data pipelines to support petabyte-scale datasets
- Establishing and maintaining algorithm development, testing, and deployment standards
- Collaborating with product and business stakeholders to identify new personalization opportunities

Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience in developing highly scalable machine learning products
- 5+ years writing production-level, scalable Python code
- In-depth understanding of deep learning technology in recommendation systems or NLP
- Proficiency in at least one deep learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Airflow, and big-data solutions (Databricks, S3, Spark)
- Ability to articulate model and algorithm behavior to technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred qualifications:
- MS or PhD in a quantitative field
- Familiarity with Java and/or Scala
- Production experience with content recommendation algorithms at scale
- Experience with streaming data pipelines (Kafka, Spark, or Flink)
