Description For Sustaining Engineer-Controls

Walt Disney World Resort is seeking a Sustaining Engineer-Controls to join their Planning & Sustaining Team at Reedy Creek Energy Services (RCES). This role is crucial in providing engineering oversight for over 40 square miles of utility infrastructure serving the Walt Disney Company. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge control systems and automation technology in one of the world's most renowned entertainment companies.

The role combines technical expertise in control systems with practical engineering applications, requiring deep knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and various control mechanisms. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated control systems that keep Disney's massive infrastructure running smoothly. This includes everything from developing construction-level drawings to writing technical procedures and managing preventative maintenance programs.

As part of the Walt Disney World Resort team, you'll be contributing to the company's mission of creating happiness through reliable and innovative engineering solutions. Responsibilities For Sustaining Engineer-Controls

  • Assist in design, operation, maintenance, installation and testing of low-voltage control systems
  • Develop construction level drawings and specifications for control panel and field wiring designs
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, plumbing and infrastructure controls systems into PLC systems
  • Develop preventative maintenance and asset refurbishment programs
  • Provide innovative solutions for specialized equipment
  • Write procedures for routine tasks and troubleshooting
  • Function as in-house expert for monitoring systems and instrumentation
  • Prepare and review equipment specifications

Requirements For Sustaining Engineer-Controls

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or comparable discipline
  • 5+ years experience in industrial or utility automation and control system design
  • 5+ years experience in PLC hardware and software
  • Experience with fiber optic equipment and infrastructure
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in various environments including outdoors
  • Available to work outside normal hours for emergencies
  • Ability to manage workload and balance priorities
