Description For Technical Director, Event (Contract)

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is seeking a Technical Director (TD) to lead the technical delivery of live entertainment shows, events, and projects. This role is crucial in creating magical experiences through innovative storytelling and collaboration. The TD serves as the primary technical authority, ensuring all scenic and technical systems align with Disney's high standards and creative vision.

The position involves directing internal and external teams across multiple technical disciplines, from audio and lighting to rigging and automation. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing Design Assurance/Hazard Assessment processes, ensuring all systems meet safety standards, and managing technical development to support creative designs.

Responsibilities For Technical Director, Event (Contract)

  • Direct technical development to align with creative designs, specifying equipment and ensuring seamless integration of audio, lighting, video, rigging, automation, show-action elements
  • Lead compliance efforts, ensuring all technical systems meet statutory requirements and industry standards
  • Oversee and direct vendor efforts, ensuring compliance with relevant standards
  • Manage and maintain project files, technical logs, design documents, bid packages, schedules, and punch lists
  • Ensure show systems operate safely by evaluating their interactions with venues, cast, and crew
  • Develop and direct technical event budgets and documentation

Requirements For Technical Director, Event (Contract)

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre, Engineering or equivalent with focus on technical design, construction, or production/technical management
  • Minimum of 10 years entertainment technical management experience
  • Experience of Managing large-scale short and long-running events
  • Strong technical skills in at least three areas including: audio, electrical, lighting, rigging, scenic construction, special effects, show control, and video
  • Strong computer skills including basic Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD and industry specific software
  • Strong leadership, partnering and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to handle multiple high-pressure projects in fast-paced environment
