Description For Chief Engineer

DOF Subsea is a leading global provider of vessel and subsea services in the oil and gas industry, operating with advanced ROVs and offshore construction vessels. They are currently recruiting Chief Engineers for Canadian Flagged Offshore Support Vessels supporting operations on the Grand Banks starting Q1 2025. The position operates on a 28-day rotation schedule.

The role demands a skilled marine professional responsible for managing all mechanical, electrical, and ancillary equipment aboard the vessel. Key responsibilities include maintaining vessel systems, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and leading the engine room department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with diesel electric and hybrid propulsion systems, strong leadership abilities, and comprehensive knowledge of maritime safety protocols.

Responsibilities For Chief Engineer

  • Take responsibility for efficient and safe running of mechanical, electrical, and ancillary equipment
  • Ensure operation of all machinery and Planned Maintenance Systems
  • Maintain vessel Technical and Operational Manuals
  • Record Marpol required items
  • Maintain engine checklists for DP Operation
  • Prepare dry dock specification and work scopes
  • Prepare Monthly updates reports
  • Review spare parts stock
  • Perform watch duty if required
  • Lead QHSE programs implementation
  • Ensure Permit to Work System implementation
  • Conduct Toolbox Talks and Pre Job Safety Meetings

Requirements For Chief Engineer

  • Post-Secondary Education in Marine Engineering
  • First Class Motor-ship Certificate
  • STCW MED, BS, SC, AFF
  • Marine First Aid
  • Valid Canadian Seafarers Medical
  • Valid Canadian Passport
  • Working knowledge with Diesel Electric Engines
  • DP Maintenance Training
  • Experience on Offshore Support Vessels
  • High-level knowledge of ISM, ISPS, Transport Canada, MARPOL
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience aboard large AHTS is an asset
