DoorDash Labs, an independent team within DoorDash, is pioneering the future of delivery through autonomous robots and automation solutions. We're seeking a Localization and Mapping Engineer to join our autonomy software team, where you'll be instrumental in developing cutting-edge localization and mapping systems for our autonomous vehicles.

As a core member of our team, you'll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to research, design, and implement sophisticated algorithms for highly accurate localization and create large-scale 3D maps. This role combines the excitement of working with autonomous systems with the impact of serving millions of users through DoorDash's delivery platform.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in C++, robotics, computational geometry, and experience with computer vision or sensor data processing. With an MS/PhD in Computer Science or Robotics, you'll contribute to building safe and redundant systems that power our autonomous delivery solutions.

Responsibilities For Localization and Mapping Engineer

  • Research, develop and implement algorithms for highly accurate localization for an autonomous vehicle
  • Design solutions for creating large-scale, accurate 3D maps
  • Contribute to the architecture of a safe and redundant system
  • Work with multiple stakeholders including Product, Engineering, and Operations

Requirements For Localization and Mapping Engineer

  • Experience in optimization, robotics, or computational geometry
  • Experience in computer vision, lidar data processing, or IMU data processing
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures and advanced algorithms
  • Strong C++ experience
  • Industry experience designing, implementing and extending algorithms
  • MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or related technical field
