Senior Engineering Manager, Consumer Machine Learning

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with an ML background to lead the Consumer Machine Learning team. This role involves leading a team of exceptional ML engineers and managers, building end-to-end ML products across homepage recommendation and ranking, search relevance and quality, intelligent notifications, and more. The ideal candidate will leverage cutting-edge LLM and Deep Learning technologies to augment DoorDash's ML stack, work with cross-functional partners to define consumer product, business, and technology strategies, and deliver significant impact. They will be responsible for encouraging innovation, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and fostering outside-of-the-box thinking and teamwork. The role also involves scaling the team by developing internal talent and attracting top external talent.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and growing a team of ML engineers and managers
• Leveraging advanced ML technologies like LLMs, GNNs, MTL, and Transformers
• Defining DoorDash's machine learning and AI strategy
• Building end-to-end ML products for personalized customer interactions
• Collaborating with cross-functional partners on strategy and impact
• Coaching and empowering engineers and managers
• Scaling the team through talent development and recruitment

The ideal candidate should have:

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 10+ years of industry experience
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience
• Broad machine learning knowledge with strong ML modeling foundation
• Extensive experience leading recommendation, ranking, search, or equivalent ML teams
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner across disciplines
• Ability to guide and grow engineering teams in a rapidly changing environment
