Staff Applied Machine Learning Engineer

DoorDash is seeking a passionate staff level Applied Machine Learning expert to join their team. In this role, you will utilize robust data and machine learning infrastructure to develop a comprehensive AI/ML service for accurate tax categorization of billions of restaurant and non-restaurant items. You'll lead and build production-level AI/ML solutions, collaborate cross-functionally, and push the boundaries of LLM capabilities while leading the AI product strategy for the team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing cutting-edge ML-driven tax catalog solutions using Generative AI
• Designing ML products to solve large-scale categorization problems at the transaction level
• Collaborating with engineering and product leaders to shape the product roadmap leveraging AI/ML
• Owning the full modeling lifecycle from feature creation to model maintenance
• Exploring new opportunities where AI/ML can benefit new business, markets, and regions

The ideal candidate will have:

• 6+ years of industry experience leading and developing advanced ML models with business impact
• Expertise in applied ML for deep learning, NLP, LLM, and multi-modality models
• M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency in Python, with experience in Spark, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
• Familiarity with Kotlin/Scala
