Senior Scientist or Senior Engineer, Water Quality

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) operates four steelmaking coal mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, employing over 5,000 people. The Senior Scientist or Senior Engineer, Water Quality role reports to the Senior Supervisor, Water Quality. The position is responsible for the technical direction and integration of environmental, engineering, and mine planning subject areas to advance mitigation planning for the management of nickel in mine-affected watersheds in the Elk Valley.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading, coordinating, and communicating the nickel management program
• Collaborating with site and project teams on water quality management
• Building relationships with regulators and Indigenous groups
• Managing the Nickel Management Program, including forecasting, scheduling, and risk management
• Incorporating adaptive management framework and change management processes
• Managing and mentoring staff and consultants

The ideal candidate should have outstanding organization, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead change in a multi-disciplinary field are essential.
