Robotics Engineer

Emesent, a world-leader in drone autonomy, LiDAR mapping, and data analytics, is seeking a Robotics Engineer to join their Robotics Group in Brisbane, QLD. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, designing and implementing advanced autonomy capabilities for the Hovermap product.

As a Robotics Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

• Researching and implementing algorithms for path planning, perception, state estimation, guidance, and navigation for unmanned ground and aerial vehicles in GPS-denied environments.
• Participating in field testing activities.
• Contributing to software development across the autonomy stack.
• Developing automated testing frameworks.
• Collaborating with team members and stakeholders across the technology group.

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Masters/PhD in Robotics or similar, or 3+ years of equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing autonomy algorithms.
• 2+ years of software engineering experience with modern C++ practices.
• Familiarity with ROS 1, 2, or other middleware frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills and high self-motivation.

Desirable skills include Python development, experience with embedded Linux platforms, and working with physical robotic platforms, particularly drones with PX4, Ardupilot, or DJI autopilots, or major commercial UGV platforms.
