Description For Forward Deployed Engineer

Extend is revolutionizing document processing through their innovative LLM-powered platform. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of helping enterprises implement AI solutions for their document processing needs. The role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, making it perfect for someone who enjoys both engineering and business impact.

The company has shown impressive growth, increasing revenue 15x to 7-figures in ARR, and serves major clients like Brex, Checkr, Opendoor, and Chime. You'll be joining a high-performance team of former founders and industry experts, working in-person from their NYC office. The position offers significant equity ownership and the opportunity to tackle novel challenges at the intersection of LLMs, data processing, and human-AI interfaces.

Key responsibilities include developing deployment strategies for LLMs in production environments, handling complex edge cases in customer data, enabling non-technical experts to train models, and helping customers optimize their AI implementations for performance, cost, and latency. You'll work directly with the founding team and have complete ownership over large areas of customer success.

The ideal candidate should be passionate about customer success, detail-oriented, and capable of operating with high autonomy. While the role is open to new graduates, you should have a strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and excellent communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a well-funded startup backed by YC, Homebrew, and OpenAI investors, with the potential for massive impact on the future of document processing.
