Description For SR SW SYSTEMS ENGINEER 9547 - Packet Forwarding Development - Data Plane/Control Plane

Extreme Networks is seeking a Senior Software Systems Engineer for their Packet Forwarding Development team, focusing on Data Plane and Control Plane. This role requires a strong background in networking concepts, embedded software development, and programming skills.

The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of experience and possess a deep understanding of networking data plane forwarding concepts, including L2, L3, VXLAN, MCT, ACL, and QOS. Familiarity with BCM-based XGS & DNX family chipsets is preferred. The role demands expertise in routing algorithms, data structures, and control plane networking concepts.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining software for network packet forwarding, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with multi-site project teams. The engineer will work on implementing and delivering complete components and modules.

This position requires excellent programming skills in C, with exposure to Go and microservices architecture. The ideal candidate should have experience in Linux operating systems and embedded software development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to debug memory leaks and performance bottlenecks.
