Description For Cloud Engineer

Faculty is a leading AI consultancy that transforms organizational performance through safe and human-centric AI solutions. As a Cloud Engineer, you'll join their Applied AI consultancy team serving clients across UK Defence, Government, Life Sciences, Energy, Banking and Retail sectors.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work with brilliant minds bringing Frontier AI to real-world applications. You'll be responsible for building robust, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure to support data and machine learning workflows. Working in cross-functional technical teams, you'll tackle some of the hardest problems in applied artificial intelligence.

The position operates on a hybrid work model, splitting time between client locations, Faculty's Old Street office, and remote work. You'll be expected to be client-side for up to three days per week, with the remainder spent either at home or in the Old Street office.

Key technical requirements include experience with major cloud providers, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containerization, and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with a scientific mindset, pragmatic problem-solving abilities, and strong client-facing skills.

Responsibilities For Cloud Engineer

  • Build robust, secure and scalable Cloud Infrastructure
  • Support data and machine learning workflows
  • Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to internal Cloud Engineering best practices
  • Enable Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to manage cloud deployments
  • Create and maintain reusable libraries
  • Be involved in the project lifecycle from idea generation to shipping
  • Recommend cloud infrastructure solutions to customers

Requirements For Cloud Engineer

Python
Kubernetes
  • Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Experience with CI/CD (ArgoCD, Gitlab Pipelines, CircleCI)
  • Knowledge of containerization and deployment with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, IP networking, TCP, HTTP
  • Knowledge of cloud security fundamentals
  • Experience with Python, NodeJS or other scripting languages
  • Experience in working directly with clients and end users
  • Technical mentoring capabilities
