Our Central Valley office in Stockton seeks an Entry-level Transportation Engineer/Planner who is eager to gain hands-on exposure to a wide variety of transportation projects while working closely with senior staff and local clients. The position offers the flexibility and entrepreneurial benefits of operating at a "start-up" office, but is also backed by the technical experts, support, and resources of our long-established offices in Sacramento, Roseville, and Walnut Creek. To support training and exposure to a broad array of project types, some travel should be expected in the first year to our Sacramento and Roseville offices.

As part of the growth of a new office, multiple opportunities present themselves for building client and staff relationships, accelerating career growth, and making a difference in the transportation futures of the Central Valley communities. Opportunities for personal and professional growth will include exposure to both planning and engineering project work across a wide range of project types and tasks, including:

  • Systemic safety studies
  • Highway interchange/corridor studies
  • Climate action plans
  • Freight planning
  • Transportation demand management (TDM) plans
  • Design drawings from conceptual stage to construction-ready documents

The role involves conducting transportation analysis, writing reports, participating in meetings, handling project management responsibilities, and conducting site visits. Over time, the successful candidate will increase their responsibilities, work on a variety of projects, use technical software programs, and attend client meetings.

Qualifications include an entrepreneurial spirit, genuine curiosity for the work, a bachelor's or in-process master's degree in a relevant field, coursework in transportation-related subjects, and experience with relevant software. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a willingness to travel to other offices as necessary.
