Fehr & Peers is seeking an Experienced Transportation/Civil Engineer to join their growing Petaluma office. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the evaluation, selection, and design of various transportation system solutions for diverse communities. The position involves generating conceptual designs, construction documents, and collaborating with staff at all levels while conducting field work.

As a key contributor, you'll focus on maintaining market presence in Marin and Sonoma counties, while supporting San Francisco and San Mateo counties. The role demands innovative design solutions that align with client objectives and follow NACTO best practices. You'll be responsible for project management and overseeing technical staff to ensure successful project delivery.

Projects range from PS&E and corridor studies to master plans and environmental documents. Responsibilities For Experienced Transportation/Civil Engineer

  • Leading and managing design tasks for transportation engineering and planning studies
  • Preparing conceptual designs that are accurate, feasible, and visually engaging
  • Preparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation engineering projects
  • Developing scopes of work and fees for multi-disciplinary traffic engineering design projects
  • Managing client interaction and communication with public through community engagement
  • Marketing and bringing in new projects through client relationships and proposals
  • Performing field work and support during construction
  • Mentoring and training colleagues

Requirements For Experienced Transportation/Civil Engineer

  • 4-10 years of experience in transportation engineering
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, or related field
  • California professional engineer's (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
  • Experience with Caltrans, MUTCD, and AASHTO design standards
  • Experience developing construction documents
  • Understanding of complete streets, bikeways, and roundabout layout
  • Familiarity with signing, striping, and traffic signal plans
  • Experience leading proposals and client relationships
