Fire Design Solutions is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to take charge of commissioning Residential and Commercial Smoke Venting and Fire Alarm Systems. This role involves on-site work, primarily in the London area, with potential for nationwide travel and overnight stays. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fan motors, inverters, and detection systems, and be able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commission Fire Alarm and AOV systems
- Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota (currently one week in 8)
- Administer accurate cause and effects
- Program life safety systems
- Work from drawings and mark-ups
- Liaise with Design, Project Management, and Maintenance departments
- Complete job-related administration (timesheets, vehicle checklists, expense forms)
- Finalize and sign off on project certification
Requirements:
- Previous experience in Fire Alarm commissioning (BS5839 standards)
- Knowledge of Kentec products (desirable)
- Computer literacy
- On-site work experience
- Ability to manage multiple discipline projects
- Supervision skills
- Strong decision-making abilities
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Valid driving license
