Description For Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer

Fire Design Solutions is seeking a Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer to join their team in London. This role focuses on commissioning residential and commercial smoke venting, fire alarm and detection, EVAC, and disabled refuge systems. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of cause and effects programming on open protocol fire panels like Kentec/Advanced/Morley-Apollo/Hochiki.

The position requires visiting client premises mainly in the London area and home counties, with potential nationwide travel and overnight stays. You'll be responsible for commissioning life safety systems in high-rise residential properties, following BS5839-1, BS5839-9, and BS8629:2019 standards. Knowledge of fan motors, inverters, and BS7671 wiring regulations is desirable.

The role offers a competitive salary range of £45,000-£55,000 per annum, along with comprehensive benefits including a company van, fuel card, mobile phone, pension scheme, and equipment. You'll be part of a structured call-out rota (1 in 13) with overtime opportunities available.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong technical expertise in fire safety systems, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities For Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer

  • Commissioning of Fire Alarm and Detection Systems and Mechanical and Natural Smoke Ventilation, EVAC and Disabled Refuge systems
  • Participation in out of hours call out rota (one week in 13)
  • Administer accurate cause and effects, test and witness test to the BCO
  • Work from drawings and mark-ups
  • Liaise with Design, Project Management and Maintenance departments
  • Complete job role administration including record drawings, timesheets, vehicle checklists, expense forms
  • Completion and sign-off of project certification

Requirements For Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer

  • Previous experience in Fire Alarm and Detection commissioning to BS5839-1 with relevant industry certification
  • Experience in commissioning disabled refuge and EVAC systems - Minimum 5 years high-level commissioning
  • Knowledge of Hochiki, Kentec and Advanced products
  • Computer literacy
  • Current CSCS and/or ECS card
  • Must be living in the U.K and have the right to work in the U.K
  • Full driving License
  • Supervision skills
  • Decision making ability
  • Time management and organization skills
