Fluence is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join their Sustaining Engineering team, focusing on optimizing in-service product lines for battery energy storage systems. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on problem-solving for complex electrical and control systems. The position requires extensive experience in battery energy storage or similar industrial systems, with opportunities to work across global facilities in Germany, India, and the USA. Responsibilities For Lead Systems Engineer
- Develop holistic view of the product and lead initiatives for multi-disciplinary approach
- Solve electrical and control problems affecting battery energy storage systems
- Lead small teams of engineers and stakeholders on key initiatives
- Provide written and verbal reports to leadership
- Prepare change requests, technical bulletins, and design documents
- Complete battery energy storage system (BESS) project site visits
- Lead preparation and execution of BESS systems tests
- Recommend new initiatives to optimize product performance
- Contribute to mentorship of Fluence colleagues
- Participate in building culture of teamwork and continuous improvement
Requirements For Lead Systems Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- At least 10 years experience in battery energy storage, electric power industry, or similar complex industrial electrical systems
- Solid understanding of electrical, control, and systems principles of grid-scale battery energy storage system
- Experience solving difficult technical problems
- Natural problem solver with knowledge of root cause analysis and 8D problem solving
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to cultivate collaborative cross-functional relationships
