Description For Senior Systems Engineer - Sustaining

Fluence, a leader in battery energy storage systems, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their Sustaining Engineering team. This role is pivotal in optimizing their in-service product line, focusing on investigating and resolving complex challenges at the intersection of software, firmware, hardware, and integration.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge energy storage technology, leading initiatives that directly impact the performance and reliability of grid-scale battery systems. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of solving critical electrical and control problems, working across multiple facilities in Germany, India, and the USA.

Responsibilities For Senior Systems Engineer - Sustaining

  • Develop holistic view of product and lead multi-disciplinary optimization initiatives
  • Solve electrical and control problems affecting battery energy storage systems
  • Lead small teams of engineers and stakeholders on key initiatives
  • Provide written and verbal reports to leadership
  • Prepare change requests, technical bulletins, and design documents
  • Complete battery energy storage system site visits
  • Lead preparation and execution of BESS systems tests
  • Recommend new initiatives for product performance optimization
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to building team culture

Requirements For Senior Systems Engineer - Sustaining

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years experience in battery energy storage, electric power industry, or complex industrial electrical systems
  • Solid understanding of electrical, control, and systems principles of grid-scale battery storage systems
  • Technical leadership experience solving difficult technical problems
  • Natural problem solver with experience in root cause analysis and 8D problem solving
  • Strong cross-functional teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
