Flyability, a pioneering company in the UAV indoor inspection industry, is seeking a Robotics Engineer Intern to join their dynamic team in Lausanne. The company, with over 100 employees, has created Elios, the world's first collision-tolerant flying robot designed for complex indoor spaces and hazardous environments.
As a Robotics Engineer Intern focusing on Sensing & Perception Systems, you'll play a crucial role in advancing drone technology. Your responsibilities will include selecting and integrating various sensor systems essential for mapping, navigation, and stability features. You'll work closely with the engineering team to optimize sensor configurations, ensuring maximum data accuracy and system synchronization.
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a Master's degree in Engineering and have hands-on experience with sensor technologies, including cameras, lidars, radars, and IMUs. Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, along with ROS1/ROS2 experience, are required. The role demands both technical expertise and analytical thinking to optimize sensor placement and evaluate algorithmic performance.
Flyability offers a collaborative startup environment where independent thinking is valued, and every team member's voice matters. The company is committed to improving safety by sending robots instead of humans into dangerous situations. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-growing drone industry while contributing to meaningful technological advancement.
The position is based in Paudex, Switzerland, and requires fluency in English. Additional language skills, particularly French, and prior drone experience are considered advantages. The company encourages applications from all candidates, regardless of past experience, acknowledging that confidence gaps shouldn't prevent talented individuals from applying.
