Description For Controls Engineer, Manufacturing

Form Energy is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their Manufacturing Controls Engineering team. This role involves developing and commissioning novel equipment for manufacturing and assembling battery components. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Robotics Engineer, proficiency in electromechanical system design, motion control, and process automation. Key responsibilities include programming and commissioning control systems, assisting with industrial electrical control panel design, writing and debugging controls logic, programming industrial robots, and working with cross-functional teams throughout the equipment development lifecycle.

Responsibilities For Controls Engineer, Manufacturing

  • Program and commission controls systems for manufacturing equipment and production lines
  • Assist with the design of industrial electrical control panels
  • Write and debug controls logic with emphasis on organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable code
  • Program industrial robots and integrate with control systems and end effect tools
  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of manufacturing equipment development
  • Verify new automated process equipment for deployment into production

Requirements For Controls Engineer, Manufacturing

Java
Python
  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Robotics Engineer
  • Proficiency in electromechanical / mechatronic system design and motion control
  • Experience with process automation
  • Proficiency in programming industrial equipment in IE 611311-3 languages
  • Experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell controls platforms
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI systems (prefer Ignition, Simatic WinCC, and/or FactoryTalk View)
  • Experience with industrial communications protocols
  • Experience programming and/or interfacing with 6-Axis industrial robots
  • Experience with ROBOGUIDE
  • Experience programming and/or interfacing with vision inspection systems
  • Experience creating detailed electrical and fluid schematics in CAD
  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal
