As an Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of advancing metal 3D printing technology, working in their state-of-the-art 35,000 square foot facility in Hawthorne, CA.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work with industry pioneers in metal additive manufacturing, where you'll be responsible for developing and improving the company's advanced printing technology. You'll handle projects from conception to delivery, working directly with customers and internal teams to optimize designs and manufacturing processes.

Key aspects of the role include automating printing processes, analyzing data for quality improvement, and providing technical recommendations based on first-principles thinking. You'll work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to advance system capabilities and improve manufacturing efficiency.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, demonstrated through a bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university and hands-on design experience. While experience with metal 3D printing is preferred, the company values a first-principles approach to problem-solving and a team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities For Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer

  • Understand printing system capabilities and work with engineering teams to automate printing process
  • Drive print production development including DFAM feedback, file preparation, and quality control
  • Analyze in-situ data and post-print part quality for continuous improvement
  • Define test methods, evaluate solutions, and provide technical recommendations
  • Document application requirements, SOPs, and align team members
  • Interface with external customers on technical capabilities and DFAM improvements
  • Contribute to internal technology development with stakeholder feedback

Requirements For Additive Manufacturing Development Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from ABET accredited university
  • Hands-on design experience from internships or engineering clubs
  • Full life-cycle hardware design experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
