You'll take ownership of building and integrating complex mechanical systems, working closely with cross-disciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge technologies. The role combines hands-on engineering with strategic thinking, requiring expertise in mechanical system assembly, manufacturing, and prototype development. You'll contribute to transitioning designs from R&D to production, optimize systems for performance and reliability, and help scale manufacturing processes. Responsibilities For Build Engineer
- Own the assembly, integration, and bring-up of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems
- Develop and document scalable manufacturing and assembly procedures
- Work closely with design and manufacturing engineers to optimize mechanical system builds
- Support design efforts by providing real-world build feedback and making CAD modifications
- Create and iterate on mechanical designs, including custom tooling and test fixtures
- Lead alignment, calibration, and precision tuning of mechanical systems
- Identify and troubleshoot issues in mechanical and electromechanical subsystems
- Assist in transitioning builds from R&D into production systems
- Conduct hands-on testing and validation of mechanical performance
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Requirements For Build Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or manufacturing engineering
- 2+ years of professional experience in mechanical system assembly
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical challenges in real time
