Description For Mechanical Engineer

Freeform is revolutionizing the 3D printing industry by deploying software-defined, autonomous metal 3D printing factories worldwide. As a Mechanical Engineer at Freeform, you'll own projects from concept to implementation, contributing to machine system architecture and working cross-functionally with electrical and software engineering teams. The ideal candidate is self-driven, collaborative, and passionate about solving complex problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Bring hardware from concept to production
  • Develop and test complex mechanical components and systems
  • Perform tolerance analysis at system and subsystem levels
  • Plan and conduct tests on equipment and systems
  • Build, integrate, and validate designs
  • Develop continuous improvement plans

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (ABET accredited)
  • Hands-on design experience from internships or engineering clubs
  • Full life-cycle hardware design experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in complex mechanical systems design
  • Knowledge of motion control, kinematics, and fluid/thermal systems
  • Experience with electromechanical systems
  • Passion for metal 3D printing

Responsibilities For Mechanical Engineer

  • Act as a responsible engineer in bringing hardware from concept to production
  • Work with senior engineers to research, develop, design, and test complex mechanical components, subassemblies, equipment, and systems
  • Perform tolerance analysis of designs at the system and subsystem level
  • Plan and perform tests to analyze the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components, and systems
  • Work hands-on to build, integrate, and validate designs and newly developed systems and/or subsystems
  • Strategize continuous improvement plans to enhance system performance, reliability, and manufacturability

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
  • Hands on design experience from internships or engineering clubs
  • Full life-cycle hardware design experience
  • Well-versed in mechanical engineering fundamentals
