Description For Staff Systems Integration Engineer (NGS Technologies)

Freenome is a high-growth biotech company developing tests to detect cancer using a standard blood draw. Our multiomics platform combines tumor and non-tumor signals with machine learning to find cancer in its earliest, most-treatable stages. Our first screening test focuses on colorectal cancer (CRC) and advanced adenomas, with plans to expand to other types of cancer.

Founded in 2014, Freenome has grown to approximately 400 employees and continues to expand to match our ambitious goals of providing access to better screening and earlier cancer detection. We are seeking a Staff Systems Integration Engineer (NGS Technologies) to join our Product Development team.

As a Staff Systems Integration Engineer, you will:

  • Define strategies and architectures for fully automated NGS workflows
  • Drive system performance evaluation and troubleshoot system-level issues
  • Provide expertise in risk management and design reviews
  • Lead system integration, bug tracking, and configuration management
  • Develop and execute system-level test plans and protocols
  • Provide technical solutions to complex problems
  • Ensure high-quality technical documentation
  • Lead junior Systems Engineers/Scientists and laboratory staff

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Advanced degree in engineering or science with 5-12 years of experience
  • Direct experience in NGS assays and automation solutions
  • Experience in regulated environments and clinical diagnostic products
  • Strong background in Systems Engineering and related disciplines
  • Technical team leadership experience
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Requirements For Staff Systems Integration Engineer (NGS Technologies)

  • Direct experience in developing NGS assays and/or NGS-based diagnostics
  • Experience in a regulated environment
  • Strong technical background in Systems Engineering
  • Technical team leadership experience
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with statistical data analysis software
  • Ability to apply scientific and engineering principles to solve technical challenges
