Description For Oracle PL/SQL Database Engineer

Future Publishing, a global leader in specialist media, is seeking an Oracle PL/SQL Database Engineer to join their Marketforce team in a hybrid role based in London. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading magazine distribution system that handles over 200 million copies worldwide annually.

The role involves developing and maintaining Marketforce Oracle applications, working with Oracle 19c, ORACLE Forms, and WebLogic technologies. As a Database Engineer, you'll be responsible for resolving complex bugs, improving code quality, and enhancing the existing codebase. The position requires strong expertise in Oracle databases, PL/SQL, and SQL Plus, along with experience in ETL processing and performance tuning.

Working in a collaborative environment, you'll interact with various stakeholders and partners, managing expectations and driving progress on technical initiatives. Responsibilities For Oracle PL/SQL Database Engineer

  • Support core applications and BAU activities, provide user acceptance testing
  • Deliver programme and project roadmap for in-house applications using ORACLE applications
  • Investigate potential software bugs, troubleshoot existing code and identify/implement solutions
  • Communicate and work with partners to manage expectations and progress of tasks
  • Write code to efficiently manipulate large datasets and perform performance investigation
  • Develop data migration scripts for moving data across databases
  • Work and align with Software Engineers to deliver developments across multiple applications

Requirements For Oracle PL/SQL Database Engineer

  • Technical experience writing production code for Oracle applications
  • Expertise in Oracle databases (PL/SQL and SQL Plus)
  • Code management using GitLab, TOAD
  • Experience in debugging and performance tuning PL/SQL code
  • Experience with ETL processing, data extraction, transform, and load
  • Linux skills desirable
  • Proven experience producing high-level design documents
